Why People Come

Concussion and Brain Injury

Complementary Nervous System Support That Sits Alongside Medical Care, Never in Place of It.

People who have had a head injury often arrive months or years after the event, once the medical part has finished and the lingering part has not. What they describe tends to be regulation rather than injury: light and noise landing harder, a shorter tolerance for busy rooms, and a tank that empties earlier in the day than it used to.

We want to be exact about our role. Momentous offers passive microcurrent neurofeedback in Arvada and Broomfield, with sessions intended to support relaxation and stress reduction. We are not a recovery program, we do not assess or manage brain injury, and nothing here belongs in an acute stage.

If your injury is recent, your care belongs with a qualified medical professional. Please read the rest of this page with that as the starting point.

Alongside medical care, never instead of it.

A Closer Look

Where a Wellness Session Sits After a Head Injury

What Do People Describe Long After a Head Injury?

Very often a lowered ceiling rather than a specific problem. The day still works, but there is less room in it. A loud restaurant costs more than it used to. Screen time runs out earlier. Patience thins in the late afternoon.

People also describe sleep that no longer restores the way it did, and a stress response that arrives faster than expected. These are the things they bring to us, and they are the reason we talk about regulation on this page rather than about recovery.

  • Light, noise, and busy rooms costing more than before
  • A tank that empties earlier in the day
  • Sleep that does not restore the way it once did
  • Thin patience in the late afternoon
  • Feeling switched on and depleted at the same time

Why Talk About the Nervous System Rather Than the Injury?

We do not chase symptoms. We work with the brain and nervous system, the control center behind them.

Because regulation is what our sessions are intended to touch, and injury is not. Your nervous system has one gear that prepares you to act and another that lets you recover, and how easily you move between them shapes tolerance, sleep, and how quickly you settle after a demanding hour.

That is an honest description of where a passive session sits. Anything beyond it, including claims about repair or recovery, would be us going past both the device clearance and the evidence.

Where Does Microcurrent Neurofeedback Fit, and What Must Come First?

Medical care comes first, always. Assessment, imaging where indicated, and any plan your physician has set are the foundation, and a wellness session changes none of it.

Where a session can sit is later, as an optional passive input for someone whose medical care is established and who is interested in relaxation and stress reduction. Small sensors sit at points around the cranium, the system reads brainwave activity, and it returns a very brief, very low microcurrent signal while you sit still.

We will decline to proceed if a visit does not look appropriate, including when an injury is recent or a physician has advised otherwise. Saying no is part of doing this properly.

  • Recent injury belongs with a medical professional, not a studio
  • Bring your physician into the decision before booking
  • Sessions are shortened or spaced out when someone is sensitive
  • Light and noise in our rooms are kept deliberately low
  • You can end any appointment at any point

What Do People Notice After a Session?

What people report is about the hours afterward. Most commonly a quieter evening, or a sense that a busy room was slightly easier to be in that day.

Some notice nothing at all. Others in this group report feeling tired or foggy for a while afterward, more often than the general run of clients, which is exactly why we start gently and adjust rather than pressing on.

How Soon After an Injury Could Someone Book?

Not in an acute stage, and not without your physician's involvement. Timing is a medical judgment, and it is theirs to make rather than ours.

What If I Am Sensitive to Light and Sound?

Tell us before you arrive. Our rooms are low light and low noise by design, and appointments can be shortened or spaced further apart.

What Does the Research Actually Say?

There are two different bodies of work here and they are easy to confuse. The larger one covers traditional EEG neurofeedback, where a person trains over many sessions with visual or audio feedback. That literature spans decades and is uneven in quality. The smaller one covers microcurrent systems like the one we use, and it is early, mostly small, and often uncontrolled.

IASIS Technologies, which makes the system in our studio, maintains a practitioner-facing list of published papers and case reports involving its device. We read it, we take it seriously as a starting point, and we also note that much of it consists of small samples without control groups. We cite it as a source of interest rather than as evidence of an outcome, and we do not send people to a manufacturer page to make up their minds.

Where a study exists that is worth your time, we say what it measured and how small it was on our own research pages rather than counting citations at you.

What We Will Not Tell You

We will not say sessions address brain injury or concussion. We will not use recovery or repair language. We will not name a number of visits, and we will not show you a score suggesting a change in your brain.

Head injury deserves qualified medical care. If yours is recent, if symptoms are worsening, or if anything new has appeared, that is where to go, and we would rather lose the booking than blur that line.
