Sessions
Safety and Suitability
Suitability is the question of whether a session is appropriate for a particular person at a particular time. For some people the answer is no, and for others it depends on a conversation with their own clinician first.
This page describes those categories in general terms. It is not an assessment, and reading it is not a substitute for asking your own provider.
When Do You Decline to Run a Session?
We decline when there is an implanted electrical device, when someone is unable to give their own informed agreement, when someone is under the influence of alcohol or a substance at the appointment, and when someone is in acute distress and needs a clinician rather than a quiet room.
We also decline when a person is looking for something we do not offer. If the reason for coming is a health outcome, we are the wrong service.
- Any implanted electrical or stimulation device.
- Anyone unable to give their own informed agreement, or without a guardian present if a minor.
- Anyone under the influence of alcohol or a substance at the appointment.
- Anyone in acute distress who needs a clinician now.
- Anyone seeking a health outcome, because we do not offer one.
When Should You Speak With Your Own Clinician First?
Speak with them if you are pregnant, if you are under active care for anything neurological, if you have a history of seizure activity, or if you are managing an ongoing health matter with a professional.
We are not asking for their permission slip. We are asking you to make the decision with someone who knows your history, which we do not.
Do You Make Any Health Decisions for You?
No. We do not assess or identify health conditions, we do not advise on any medicine, and we never suggest changing anything a clinician has arranged with you.
If a provider in this category offers to advise you on medicine, treat that as a serious warning sign and walk away.
Is the Signal Itself Risky?
The signal is very small and brief. The device is FDA cleared for relaxation training and muscle reeducation, and clearance is a regulatory step rather than a statement that a product does anything in particular.
The honest position is that short term reports are usually mild and short lived, and that long term study of this specific approach is thin. The open questions page sets out what nobody can currently tell you.
What Do You Do If Something Happens During a Session?
We stop. Sensors come off, you sit, and we talk about what you noticed. Nothing continues on a schedule once you say stop.
If a situation needs medical attention, we call your local emergency number rather than managing it ourselves.
Can Minors Have a Session?
Only with a parent or guardian present for intake and only where a guardian agrees in person. We will decline if a young person does not want to be there.
Do You Need to Know Your Health History?
No. Share only what you want to share. The categories above are the ones that matter to us, and you can raise them in general terms without detail.
