Our Measurement Tools
Brain Gauge by Cortical Metrics
A Short, Quiet Check That Adds Objective Numbers to Your Own Experience.
Brain Gauge is a small desktop device made by Cortical Metrics that measures how a person perceives light vibration through the fingertips. You rest two fingers on it, answer simple prompts about what you felt, and the software records timing and accuracy.
We use it as a measurement tool only. It sits alongside microcurrent neurofeedback sessions to give you objective numbers to look at over time, rather than relying on memory alone.
It measures. It does not decide anything about you.
What Does Brain Gauge Actually Measure?
It measures perception of touch. Two small probes deliver gentle vibrations to your fingertips, and each task asks you to report which side felt stronger, which came first, or whether two sensations felt the same.
From those answers the software derives measures such as speed, accuracy, and the smallest difference you can reliably notice. They are performance measurements taken in the moment, nothing more.
- The session is short, usually a few minutes at a desk.
- Nothing is placed on your head and nothing breaks the skin.
- You can decline it and still have a full session.
How Does It Complement Neurofeedback?
Microcurrent neurofeedback itself is a passive session with nothing to perform, and change is mostly tracked by how you describe your days. Brain Gauge adds a second source of information: a short, repeatable task that produces objective numbers, run under the same conditions each time.
Because the task does not change between visits, the same check run on two different days produces numbers you can put side by side, next to the pattern you report in your own words. Neither one decides anything on its own. Together they give you and your practitioner more to look at than either would alone.
- The neurofeedback session runs exactly the same whether or not you add a check.
- The check adds a few minutes at a desk before or after your session.
- Your numbers are kept with your record and shown to you, so comparisons stay yours.
How Do You Use the Numbers?
We record them, show them to you, and talk about what you noticed in your own life. We do not use them to make claims about a condition, and we do not present a change in a number as a result you should expect.
Numbers move for ordinary reasons. Sleep, caffeine, time of day, and how much practice you have had with the task all shift the result. We read them with that in mind and say so plainly.
Is a Brain Gauge Check a Medical Test?
No. It is a performance measurement of touch perception. It is not medical care and it does not evaluate a health condition.
Does It Hurt?
No. The vibration is light and brief. Most people describe it as a faint buzz against the fingertip.
What Does It Cost?
Brain Gauge testing is an optional add-on at $50 per session. It is not a standalone visit and it is not booked online. You add it at the studio on the day, and it is charged with your session.
