Sessions
Can I Use My HSA or FSA for Neurofeedback?
HSA and FSA cards are accepted at our studios. Eligibility may require a Letter of Medical Necessity. Whether a session qualifies is decided by your plan administrator under IRS rules, not by us, so we do not describe our sessions as HSA or FSA eligible.
What we can do is make the paperwork simple. Every paid visit gets an itemized receipt, we can share device details your administrator may ask for, and we can give you a short outline to bring to your own clinician if a letter is required.
Check with your plan administrator before paying with plan funds. If a purchase is later found ineligible, repaying or reporting it is the account holder's responsibility.
Which Cards Can I Use?
HSA and FSA debit cards carrying a Visa or Mastercard logo run like any other card, whether you pay when booking online or at the studio. Some plans also let you pay personally and submit the receipt for reimbursement.
A card going through only means the payment processed. It is not an eligibility decision. Your administrator can still ask for documentation afterward.
If you have a limited purpose FSA, check its rules first. Those accounts are often restricted to dental and vision expenses.
What If My Card Is Declined?
Some HSA and FSA cards only approve at merchants classified as medical providers. If yours declines, pay another way and submit your itemized receipt to your administrator for reimbursement.
Who Decides Whether a Session Qualifies?
Your plan administrator does. They apply IRS rules on qualified medical expenses, which generally cover care that is primarily for a medical purpose rather than general wellness.
That distinction is why a letter is often requested. We are a wellness practice. Determinations of medical necessity are not part of what we do, so that part of the process sits with you, your clinician, and your plan.
What Is a Letter of Medical Necessity?
It is a short letter from your own licensed healthcare provider explaining why a specific service is recommended for you and for how long. It is written by your clinician, not by us.
Some administrators have their own form, so ask for it before your appointment with your provider. Letters usually cover a set period, which varies by plan, and may need renewing.
If it helps, we can give you a one page outline describing what a session involves and the device we use. It is there to save your clinician time. It does not ask them to state anything they do not believe.
What Paperwork Do You Provide?
Everything below is free. Ask at the studio or by message and we will send it.
| Document | When | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Itemized receipt | Every paid visit | Date, service, amount paid, studio address, and our business name |
| Device information | On request | The system we use and the scope of its FDA clearance |
| Clinician outline | On request | A one page description of a session to bring to your own provider |
| Package usage list | On request | The date each package session was used |
Can I Buy a Package With HSA or FSA Funds?
Ask your administrator first. Many plans reimburse a service on the date you receive it, not the date you prepay for it, so paying for a full package up front with FSA funds can create a mismatch.
If you are unsure, pay per session with plan funds, or buy the package with personal funds and submit receipts as sessions are used. We can list the date each package session was used.
Do You Bill Insurance?
No. We do not submit insurance claims on your behalf. HSA and FSA spending is between you and your plan, and our part is providing clear receipts and documentation when you ask.
